The Cape: my verdict
I'm a sucker for comic book adaptations, so when I heard that ER's Aussie doctor David Lyons was signing on to place the caped crusader that is Vince Faraday I got a little bit excited. With Smallville ending this year I'm in need of a new superhero show to enjoy on the small screen as I patiently wait for the next Spiderman, Batman, Superman and Avengers movies.
And I can safely say that I think I have found my show! The Cape (the actual cape as well as the man) and it is packed full with well known sci-fi stars such as Summer Glau and a couple of Brits you may know as Vinnie Jones and James Frain.
I hope this is a show that not only makes a full season, but has a long future ahead of it, perhaps Smallville's epic decade is a long shot, but who knows!

Disney's 3D Legacy
Now I was very naughty and didn't get round to writing a review of Tron Legacy when I went to see it. I'm sure you're not interested in what I thought, as if you're reading this you've probably already seen it. But Tron Legacy is a film that was made for 3D. Filming for 3D is becoming more popular than ever and Disney certainly has a lot lined up.
The first film to follow Tron Legacy is Tangled, which also marks the 50th film from the House of Mouse. I'm looking forward to seeing Tangled as Zachary Levi, star of Chuck provides the voice of Flynn Rider.
Other Disney 3D films to look forward to include:
- Mars Needs Mums (April 2011)
- Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (May 2011)
- Cars 2 (July 2011)
- Spy Kids 4 (August 2011)
- Fright Night (September 2011)
- The Avengers (May 2012)
- Monsters Inc. 2 (December 2012)
I'll be keen to see how these films work in PR. I'm a big fan of 3D, when it's done right. Some 3D is so subtle that you forget it actually is 3D. Avatar and Alice in Wonderland are two films that I've been impressed with to-date so let's see if anything can compete with those...
Tangled is in cinemas on 28th November, Tron is still in selected cinemas.

Counting down to Bad News
Were you one of the many people that watched Monday night's How I Met Your Mother and wondered like mad what the numbers counting down were all about? Or were you like me, not paying that close attention (as it was late and you were tired) and didn't notice until 10 on Robin's jacket, 9 on the doctors file, etc (the numbers started at 50 so yes I was a little slow). Well, if you didn't know *SPOILER ALERT* the numbers were counting down to what was the title of the episode and can only be described as Bad News. Yes sadly after hearing good news that he can father a child, Marshall found out from Lilly that his father had passed away :(
Execs on the show have revealed that this episode and storyline was planned from the start. The first 12 episodes were leading up to this moment and we can expect the next 12 to follow this moment.
I have to admit this episode had me balling my eyes out - Grey's Anatomy style at the end. I hope that this is the last time HIMYM makes me cry as I have plenty of other viewing for that!

The Season of Nic
Happy New Year to all. Today I am happy as my favourite TV shows are slowly but surely making their way back to the small screen after the long Christmas break. But I am also happy because there is lots to look forward to on the big screen with a jam-packed year full of exciting films (some adaptations of childhood classics that I hope aren't ruined, e.g. Yogi Bear and Smurfs). Such films as Transformers 3, X-Men First Class, Pirates of the Caribbean 4, The Green Hornet, Captain America, the final Harry Potter and Scream 4. Ok, I've picked out some of the sci-fi films to look forward too, but there are others that don't fit into this category, the biggest I'm looking forward to is The Hangover 2!
To kick-start the 2011 line up is Nicolas Cage's new film - Season of the Witch (if he's in it, I'm watching). Now I haven't seen the film yet so I'm afraid I can't tell you if it is worth watching, but Cage is known for his brilliant performances but does pick some odd films/roles. From the trailer (see below) this film looks interesting...
Watch this space for a review.
