An Event-ful Pilot

Now as a sci-fi geek I'm a big fan of shows such as Smallville, Supernatural, True Blood, etc. But the shows that really got me excited were Lost, Heroes and Flash Forward. So when I saw the trailer for The Event I knew it was a show that I had to watch. And it didn't dissapoint. As Lost did with the black smoke and polar bear, The Event proves within the first episode that there is more to this story than what the trailer shows you (if you've seen the trailer you will know it doesn't show you what is the event, but what isn't).

From all of the season premiere's I have seen so far (there is still a few to go) it is easily the one that has left me sitting eagerly awaiting the next episode the most. I only hope that it doesn't go down the route of Lost, Heroes and Flash Forward and try and stretch something into a long running show which is never meant to be more than one or two seasons long and ruin it. Sometimes there is a great idea for a show but there just isn't enough legs for it to be long running. That's ok, let it end after six episode or two season, at least it will be end on a high and always be remembered as a cult hit!

What did you think of the first episode?

Comic-Con Highlights

So what were the most exciting things to come out of this year's Comic-Con? Here's my top picks...

Chuck vs. the Terminator

Just when I thought Chuck couldn't get any more exciting, Linda Hamilton aka Terminator's Sarah Connor (or Catherine Chandler for all you Beauty and the Beast fans) is joining the cast, playing Mama Bartowski.

Daddy's Home

Jonathan Kent is returning to Smallville, how I hear you ask? Well even John Schneider doesn't have a clue. With other cast member set to make a return including Kara and Lionel Luthor, I'm keeping everything crossed that Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luthor) will return, the show just won't be the same if it ends without him. Season 10 might be the end of Smallville, but it's the start of Superman.

With Vampires comes Werewolves

Vampire Diaries confirmed that there will be werewolves in season 2 through the character of Tyler Lockwood. I've read the first few books, and the only thing I liked about them was that they were the only books that didn't go down the vampires = werewolves, don't get me wrong, I love the werewolves in True Blood (not so much in Twilight) but it would be nice to watch something that wasn't so predictable.

Still no John Winchester Return :(

I'm not the only one that want's Jeffery Dean Morgan to return to Supernatural, every flashback episode I hold out a high hope that he will reappear, but due to his busy film career it's unlikely to happen. Exciting news however is that episode four of season six (I can't wait to see how they can explain Sam's escape from Hell) is directed by Dean Winchester himself, Jensen Ackles.

Microwave fingers explained

One thing I have questioned in True Blood is the purple power of Sookie's hands that appeared in Season 2, and again in a recent airing from season 3.  Anna Paquin has confirmed that this super power will be explained later on in the season.

And the sad news? Still no sign of Moonlight returning :( But at least we have Hawaii Five-0 in September.

Top 5 Sci-Fi Hunks

With Comic Con fast approaching, here's a top 5 for your enjoyment, this week the top 5 Sci-fi hunks. I'm leaving the lst five open to your suggestions:

5. Lex Luther aka Michael Rosenbaum (Smallville) - most people will go for the obvious choice of Clark Kent (Tom Welling), and although I think Tom plays a brilliant Clark Kent, I find Michael's Lex slighty more appealing.

4. John Winchester aka Jeffery Dean Morgan (Supernatural) - most people will know Jeffery for his brilliant Denny Duquette in Grey's Anatomy but my friend and I first spotted him in Supernatural playing Sam & Dean's father. I'm still waiting for the day when he comes back from the dead, Grey's Anatomy style! Anyone else think he looks a bit like Robert Downey Jnr?

3. Dean Winchester aka Jensen Ackles (Supernatural) - I was first alerted to Jensen in Smallville playing Lana Lang's boyfriend Jason Teague. As Dean he plays a burget loving demon chaser with a love for the ladies.

2. Eric Northman aka Alexander SkarsgÄrd (True Blood)- I'll admit although I'm a sucker (see what I did there!) for long hair I didn't find Vampire Eric that appealing, until I saw those mighty arms and then the hair was (thank god) cut. Now move over Vampire Bill cos Eric is in town!

1. Mick St. John aka Alex O'Loughlin (Moonlight)- I'm sure many of you will agree that Alex deserves to be the top of this chart. Although Moonlight was a short lived TV show, Alex captured the hearts of many female sci-fi fans and was the most exciting vampire to hit our screens since Angel.

So who do you think should be added to this list?
