Glee vs. X Factorween

Happy Halloween people. After a week of Halloween entertainment the day has finally arrived. Glee and X Factor both used the spooky celebration to perform spellbinding songs, but who put in the best effort for their 'costumes'? Here are a few best picks...

Shakespeare's new sister
Who you calling a Gleek?
I'm just quirky me
Let's do the time warp again
An intense thrill
Ready for the show?
I serenade the ladies

This quiff don't come easy you know
I put a spell on you
Don't mess with us
I think the Glee crew win hands down, after all they did have a few shirtless guys...

Let's do the time warp again...

All I have to say is roll on Halloween week. This year Glee has gone all out with the Rocky Horror Glee show and here is a sneak peek of what to expect. You can also see Emma's full performance of Touch Me here. Check out Kurt, he looks pretty scary!

Camp Glee

With Glee being such a smash hit it was only a matter of time before another network created a carbon copy and of course that network would be youth focused channel the CW. The show that’s in development is called ‘Acting Out’ and is set to be a musical, dancing dramedy, a cross between Glee and... wait for it... Bad Santa?! Writer/director of Bandslam Todd Graff and the film’s producer Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas have been recruited to develop the show which will explore the relationships of counsellors and and staff of a down-on-its-luck summer camp. Graff also wrote and directed the film Camp so I expect will be drawing on his experiences from that.

A Gleek State of Mind

Luckily it feels like the return of Glee to our screens has come around quickly (perhaps as I've been singing along to the soundtracks to the first season in my car to pass the time). And it has returned with a bang, or should that be slushie? With a guest appearance from Charice who at a tiny 4'11" is smaller than Lea Michelle! I'm not entirely sure who Charice is, but have been aware that she would be making an appearance, and boy what a voice she has!

A great mix of songs (and the perfect amount) and new cast members have made sure that this new season starts off as funny, exciting and entertaining as season one.

Next week is the Britney Spears episode, I wonder what songs they will do...any guesses?

Gleeful Flash Mob

As this week sees the last episode of this season's Glee in the States (sadly next week for us Brits) I've been on browsing the web getting my 'Gleek fix' and stumbled across this brilliant video of a Glee flash mob in Rome.

Now who's with me in doing a UK flash mob? A little S.A.F.E.T.Y Dance maybe...?

From Geek to Gleek

Glee has inspired me again for my next post, my top on screen geeks across TV and film. The following 10 geeks are in no particular order...

1. Starting with Glee, the annoying yet entertaining Rachel Berry from Glee. Ironically honest, she is “like Tinkerbell and needs applause to stay alive”.

2. Bill Haverchuck from Freaks & Geeks, played by the brilliant Martin Starr, Haverchuck is the funniest TV geek ever.

3. Gosh, Napoleon Dynamite from the film of the same name is a geek with brilliant dance moves

4. For those who are children of the 90’s will remember Dustin Diamond’s Screech as everyone’s favourite geek in Saved by the Bell.

5. Richard Rubin as himself in Beauty and the Geek is a real life geek, a real life Screech in fact.

6. David Schwimmer’s Ross Geller in Friends, the dinosaur geek who always seems to get the ladies, and get them down the aisle as well.

7. Gareth Keenan played by Makenzie Crook in The Office is easily wound up by Tim Canterbury.

8. Steve Carell as the loveable 40 Year Old Virgin Andy Stitzer provides us with plenty of laughs, especially with the classic waxing scene.

9. This one time at band camp, Alison Hannigan played Michelle Flaherty in the American Pie movies and provided us with a few uncomfortable laughs.

10. And saving the best till last, Sheldon Cooper from the Big Bang Theory. Need I say more?

That's my top ten, post your thoughts on those that should be added to the list...

Hell-O Glee

Ok, so I managed to (patiently) wait until today to watch Glee and after all the hype and excitement (mostly on my part), I have to say I’m a little disappointed. What with all of the untied ropes they left us with at the end of season one part one they seem to have killed all hope and gone back to the start. Although now it reeks of a show that now has a bigger budget (and knows it has a massive following).

I was pleased however to spot a guest appearance from Idina Menzal, the wife of Taye Diggs from Private Practice and How Stella Got Her Groove Back and the original, brilliant star of Wicked, who rightly deserved her Tony Award. Let’s face it, Rachel (Lea Michele) clearly looks like Idina, sings like Idina, and when she sang Defying Gravity she just plain right wanted to be Idina.

I only wish that they relived Defying Gravity, or at least let Idina sing.

I am however holding out my hopes for The Power of Madonna, roll on next Monday…

Madonna Gleek 2

Ok, sorry to go on about Glee AGAIN, but after seeing this amazing recreation of Vogue with Sue Sylvester, aka Suedonna I just had to post a link. Sue is by far the best character in Glee, and if you love Jane Lynch who plays her then check her other fantastic roles in Role Models and 40 Year Old Virgin.

And that’s “how Sue C’s it”!

Madonna Gleek

Glee is back in the US tonight and the promotional shoot for TV Guide sums up what we can expect. We all know Madonna is a fan of the show, and not only has she allowed the cast to sing one of her songs, she has let them create an album of eight classic Madonna songs.

I can’t wait to see the next episode, and doubt that Sue will actually dress up as Madonna with the classic cone bra, but I love the picture none the less!
Which is your favourite Madonna Gleek?
