Glee vs. X Factorween

Happy Halloween people. After a week of Halloween entertainment the day has finally arrived. Glee and X Factor both used the spooky celebration to perform spellbinding songs, but who put in the best effort for their 'costumes'? Here are a few best picks...

Shakespeare's new sister
Who you calling a Gleek?
I'm just quirky me
Let's do the time warp again
An intense thrill
Ready for the show?
I serenade the ladies

This quiff don't come easy you know
I put a spell on you
Don't mess with us
I think the Glee crew win hands down, after all they did have a few shirtless guys...

Scream Again

As it’s Halloween this week, and keeping in the spirit of my last post how could I not reference the ultimate Halloween series (note this applied to my generation, others may disagree) that is Scream?

And after the sad news that Courtney Cox and David Arquette have separated, announced before the latest film from the franchise where they met and fell in love. Scream 4 won’t be around until 15th April 2011, but as its Halloween I’m sharing some teaser posters and pictures with you. One of these posters seems to show McDreamy actor Patrick Dempsey in the latest edition (he was a detective in Scream 3) but I can’t see him in the cast list on IMDB. From what I remember he was the bad guy in the third one and didn’t survive. I think it is time for me to go back and watch the Scream trilogy to remind myself!

Enjoy these pictures at your peril! More posts on Halloween TV shows to come.

Let's do the time warp again...

All I have to say is roll on Halloween week. This year Glee has gone all out with the Rocky Horror Glee show and here is a sneak peek of what to expect. You can also see Emma's full performance of Touch Me here. Check out Kurt, he looks pretty scary!

Road to recovery

So Grey's Anatomy goes documentary style next week in the 'These Arms of Mine' episode where a man is given new arms from a donor. The documentary entitled 'Seattle Medical: ON the Road to Recovery' looks at Seattle Grace six months on from the shootings. From these sneak peek clips below you can see that having a camera crew film them has gone to the heads of a few of the senior staff. But you may also notice taht Meredith and Christina, who became attendings last week, are back in their usual baby blue scrubs rather than the navy ones. Hopefully all will be explained during the episode, but for now enjoy these first looks:

The truth is out

So something major happened in Smallville this week. Clark told Lois his secret (not that she didn’t already know), but what does this mean for the future Lois and Clark that we know? He can’t fly yet, we haven’t seen him in the suit and he certainly doesn’t have the name Superman yet, but Lois already knows his secret. As Lois prepared herself to tell Clark she knew he was the Blur (and Clark contemplated telling Lois the truth) I expected that as Lois had become possessed by goddess Isis that he memory would be wiped and the secret would remain a secret... I was wrong.

But, I hope that at some point (hopefully soon) Lois will somehow forget that Clark is the Blur, as let’s face it, that would be completely going off track of Superman and remember when they did that in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman? The show sadly went downhill as Clark’s secret was part of what kept the show going. If all the main characters in Smallville know who Clark is (and the fact that Oliver has revealed his identity to the world) I can’t see how that is going to help Clark to become Superman & Clark – two different people.

I’m sure the writers have something planned, I just hope we don’t get to the end of the season with the epic finish that we know is coming and Lois still knows who the Blur...as Superman is.

Camp Glee

With Glee being such a smash hit it was only a matter of time before another network created a carbon copy and of course that network would be youth focused channel the CW. The show that’s in development is called ‘Acting Out’ and is set to be a musical, dancing dramedy, a cross between Glee and... wait for it... Bad Santa?! Writer/director of Bandslam Todd Graff and the film’s producer Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas have been recruited to develop the show which will explore the relationships of counsellors and and staff of a down-on-its-luck summer camp. Graff also wrote and directed the film Camp so I expect will be drawing on his experiences from that.

Hawaii Five-0 Gets Full Season

Great news today, Hawaii Five-0 has been signed on for a full season by CBS, making this the first successful TV show for Alex O'Loughlin. Alex previously starred in cult hit Moonlight about a vampire PI and after that the short lived Three Rivers. Unfortunately Moonlight was cancelled only months before Twilight hit cinemas, making vampires the latest craze. If only the network held on to it for a full season it could still have been going today. BUT then we wouldn't have Alex in Hawaii Five-0.

So to celebrate I've put together a few pictures from both shows to help you decide which you would rather see Alex as, a vampire private detective or Dectective Steve McGarrett....

Hawaiian hottie or Smouldering Vamp?

American James Bond or LA Vampire?

Clean cut cop or Floppy haired PI?

Action hero or Scary dead man?
Or how about a hot doctor in the not so hot Three Rivers?

Which will you go for?

I guess you're stuck with...Melissa & Joey

As a kid I loved Blossom and her dumb big brother Joey (I was a little young at the time to be into boys but still he was cute), then as a teenager I really enjoyed Clarissa Explains It All, I had a young sister so I could also get away with watching Sabrina the Teenage Witch, even though I was a little over the age of being able to justify it as my preferred choice of entertainment after school. So when I saw a TV film a last year starring these two people (Joey not Blossom) I thought I’d give it a go.

Joey was still hot, but without the hair (he has a very strange hairline and constant 6 o’clock shadow on his head (not sure is if there is a term for that on your head) so should really just grow the hair out... Sorry, getting back to my point, but the film My Fake Fiancé was not so hot. So when I saw a new sitcom called Melissa and Joey starring these two 90’s TV stars I wondered how would put them together again after such a bad film. Especially one where Melissa is looking after her sister’s teenage kids and hires Joey (who worked for the kids dad until he lost all his money) as the nanny?!

But, watching this sitcom has made me remember why I loved these two in the first place. They are both brilliant comedy actors. Put them together, throw in a little chalk and cheese and Melissa and Joey is quite a light entertaining show.

The show is pulling in a steady audience on ABC and has apparently been signed on for an additional 10-12 episodes, so as the title song sings "I guess you're stuck with me" - now you get the blog title right?!

Oh and before I forget, as I usually do I directed myself to the greatest website to have ever been evented that is IMDB and looked up Joey Lawrence to see what he has been doing for the last 15 years...and to see how old he is as you know teenagers in American shows are always played by 20-somethings. I was shocked to see that Mr Joey Lawrence was but 14 years of age when he played Joey Russo. Now is this the face (and body) of a 14 year old? I ertainly never went to high school with any boys that looked like this.

If you’re looking for something to watch while the other shows start to take their usual Thanksgiving, then Christmas, then mid season...you get the idea breaks, then I recommend Melissa and Joey as something you should check out.

Guess who's an attending?!

So I've jsut stumpled across the sneak peek for this week's Grey's Anatomy episode: Almost Grown Up and guess who becomes an attending? Well we've been waiting for it for a while, but I'm sure Bailey had a lot more solo surgeries than Mer and co before she changed from the infamous baby blues to navy scrubs. Check out the video:

Another brilliant Mad Men season finale

Yesterday I watched the season 4 finale of Mad Men, and like the last three seasons it didn't dissapoint. This show just keeps getting better and better. And, this finish had people expecting a bigger focus on little Sally Draper, but the **spoiler alert** announcement was that Mr Mad Man himself Don Draper was ready to settle down again, and not with a certain blonde we've seen him with for most of the season. Betty also seemed to finally realised she'd let go of a good one, even if he did cheat, drink and smoke to much, work long hours, lie about his identity, etc - you get the idea!

Mad Men is one of those shows I got into late. I missed the pilot on TV and when that happens I decide I will get round do it, then suddenly its starting its fourth season and I'm yet to see the first episode. But I have at last caught up, having now seen all four seasons. And I cannot wait for the next. So much so in fact that I have throwing a Mad Men themed birthday party for my self, sadly I do not think this is an original thought as the inspiration came from this picture below:

I shall share pictures of the creative fancy dress costumes that appear at my party. But until then this will be it on Mad Men...for now. Oh what will I do without the amazing fashion and style that has shaped this seasons trends? Just look in the high street shops I guess!

No ordinary sci-fi comedy

There have been so many good new and continued TV shows this season that I've tried to cut a few out (I'm sure I'll pick them back up during the summer season when there's less on) but last week I actually added a new show. I saw the previews for No Ordinary Family and thought as a fan of superhero films and shows that I would check it out. And I was pleased with what I saw. It's a little bit Heroes, how did they get their powers, trying to understand them, etc but it also has an element of comedy (particularly in Michael Chiklis' attempts to use his powers for good, falling off buildings, etc).

It's a show that I'm interested on seeing where it will go, but with other new brilliant shows like The Event to watch it sadly hasn't made it to the top of my list yet.

200 episodes to greatness

This week Smallville's 200th episode aired on the CW network. Titled 'Homecoming' the episode saw Clark visit his past, take a closer look at his present and a sneaky look at his future. Focusing on Clark's high school reunion I was hoping to see a few more familiar faces, obviously Chloe and Lana weren't going to make an appearance, but I at least thought that Pete would appear.

Still looking back through classic scenes that have shaped who Clark is at present was well presented, but the most exciting part was seeing Clark meet his future self, the true Clark Kent that we know and love, and Tom Welling proved that he can play this Clark brilliantly. Sadly I have been unable to find a picture of this but I did find this video:

What this episode reminded me is all the things that Clark has learnt along the way and how we have been there to experience them with him, from learning he can lift heavy things to getting x-ray vision, it has been an epic journey and I can't wait to see how it ends.
